HISTORY OF THE FACULTY OF FOOD TECHNOLOGY AND AGROINDUSTRY
The establishment of the Faculty of Food Technology and Agroindustry began with the establishment of the Agricultural Technology Study Program as one of the Study Programs at the University of Mataram in 1984 (Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia No. 49/DIKTI/Kep/1984), then became Agricultural Product Technology Study Program in 1996 based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 232/DIKTI/Kep/1996.
Administratively, the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program was under the management of the Department of Agricultural Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture. In 1998, Agricultural Product Technology Study Program received grade B accreditation (Accreditation Decree No. 02139/Ak-II.1/UMWLLP/XII/1998), valid until 2003. The Agricultural Product Technology Study Program received a Due-Like Dikti grant (2000 to 2004) used for improving laboratory equipment facilities and libraries, improving the quality of lecturers, creating a new curriculum for Agricultural Product Technology Study Program, and planning the establishment of the Agricultural Engineering Study Program under the framework of establishing the Agricultural Technology Major. The new curriculum was implemented in the 2001/2002 academic year so that those year graduates held a Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (STP) approved by the Rector’s Decree No. 9055/J.18.H./HK01.11/2002.
In 2005, the Agricultural Technology Major was established with two study programs, the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program and the Agricultural Engineering Study Program, based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 27/Dikti/Kep/2005. In response to the Letter of the Director General of Higher Education No. 163/DIKTI/Kep/2007 concerning the study program codification name in April 2010, the University of Mataram then changed the study program name from Agricultural Product Technology to the Food Science and Technology.
Preparations for the Faculty of Agricultural Technology establishment started in 1989 and have been carried out by recruiting human resources and adding laboratory facilities and infrastructure. Based on the commitment to establish the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, it is stated in the 1997 UNIVERSITY OF MATARAM STRATEGIC PLAN (RENSTRA) that the Faculty of Agricultural Technology was planned to be established by 2010. To implement the Strategic Plan, the University of Mataram 2010 formed a Task Force for the Establishment of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology and asked for funds from the Ministry of National Education to improve laboratory facilities and equipment and to elevate the learning quality in Agricultural Technology Major.
Originally planned as the Faculty of Agricultural Technology was finally designated as the Faculty of Food Technology and Agroindustry based on the Decree of the University of Mataram Rector No. 1569/UN18/HK.00.01/2012 dated February 4, 2012. The Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia inaugurated the faculty building on 2 July 2012.
The Faculty of Food Technology and Agroindustry has two (2) accredited study programs. The Food Science and Technology Study Program is accredited B and valid until 2020 (BAN PT No.1122/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/X/2015 dated October 31, 2015). Likewise, the Agricultural Engineering Study Program is accredited B and valid until 2021 (BAN PT No. 1201/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/VII/2016 dated July 21, 2016).
According to the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 257/M/KPT/2017 regarding the Study Program name in Higher Education and Degrees for graduates of each Study Program which has been set on September 5, 2017, and taking into account of the current curriculum, graduates of the Food Science and Technology Study Program who graduated in October 2017 held a Bachelor of Food Technology (S.T.P), while graduates of the Agricultural Engineering Study Program is awarded a Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (S.TP).
The administration implementation within the Faculty of Food Technology and Agroindustry refers to the organisation management made based on the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 116 the Year 2014 regarding the Organization and Work Procedures of the University of Mataram Article 61 states that in carrying out daily activities, the Faculty Dean is assisted by deputy deans I, II and III and other units which consists of two (2) sub-sections, namely: the academic and student affairs sub-section and the general and financial sub-section.
